Chief aka “cool Kief” is a 6-year-old, 12lb, beautiful black and tan dachshund. He came to DRUT after living in the same household for his whole life and is looking for an active home where he can run and play and get all the love and attention. While he can be a little nervous at first, it doesn’t take Chief long to warm up, especially when there are treats involved. In addition to the typical dachshund stubbornness, Chief has an incredibly playful personality.
Some of his favorite things include walks, running and playing in the backyard, thoroughly destuffing toys and warm snuggles. He can be protective of his home and barks at some noises and people, however when left in his kennel during the day he is calm and quiet. Chief would do great in a home with another smaller playful dog, or as an only dog getting all the attention and exercise he needs. He is 100% housetrained and does great on the leash.
Chief would do best in a home with older children familiar with the breed as well as another dog to play with.
