Our dachshund friends really do need our help (all dogs do), but at the Dachshund Rescue of Utah (DRUT) we’re focused on helping the many kinds of dachshunds who are part of our world. From mini dachshunds, black and tans, to brindle and dapple they all are unique and all of them are important.

Would you like to learn about fostering a rescued dachshund or applying to foster a dachshund? Thank you for considering caring for these little dogs as they move from their old situation to their new forever home. We’d love to introduce you to some of our DRUT alumni.

Besides fostering there are other ways you can help and be involved with helping the dogs. Interested in getting involved? We are always thankful to receive donations for rescued dachshunds, whether it’s a warm blanket or bed for a dachshund, or monetary donations (PayPal) to help with vet bills. Please note: the Pitman Animal Rescue Foundation runs both the Dachshund Rescue of Utah and the Dachshund Rescue of LA. Please contact us if you have questions.

Here are some things our volunteers help with:

  • There and back again – stepping in to give a dog a ride to the vet or back home from an appointment or procedure
  • Play date or daycare for a rescue dog while their foster is at work
  • Transportation – we receive dogs from all over the state, we need volunteers to give them a ride or coordinate with others to get them to Salt Lake City
  • Fundraisers
  • & many other ways
